US residency, coming back to Canada for fellowship (or just to practice)

Hi, so I'm a Canadian citizen studying abroad with plans to do residency in the US and to return to Canada for fellowship/to practice. I'm eyeing a 4-year Med-Peds residency in the US, where I would get double-certification in IM and Peds. My question is, would I be able to come to Canada after completing this program to go directly into practice or into fellowship (ie a specific peds fellowship)? Or would I have to do an extra year of training beforehand? I hear that some American residency...
